LVS Small plastic parts has seen multiple successes over the last twelve months, championing the return of work form the Middle East. Simon Anderson, MD of LVS, comments:

“We are beginning to see work return to the UK, after a long time in which everyone was convinced that the only way to guarantee cost effective parts was to buy in from overseas. There are a number of reasons why buying British is becoming the norm again, not least the realisation that UK pricing is becoming more competitive. In addition to the cost benefits, quality control can be more closely monitored when parts are being manufactured closer to home, it is possible to purchase in smaller quantities, and lead times are considerably shorter. The combination of these factors makes sense for smaller companies, who may not wish to buy in bulk,, and are concerned with quality and with getting finished product out the door with minimal delay. Also, increased importance is placed on leaving behind the lightest possible carbon footprint, and mass production and import of parts from the Far East is not an environmentally sensitive way of doing business.

“We have been delighted to welcome the renewed interest in parts manufactured in the Uk, and look forward to a revival in the fortunes of the UK Plastics sector. One of the main issues associated with a long period of foreign manufacturing has been the skills gap created in the UK. One of the actions we have taken to prepare for the upsurge in activity is to invest heavily in apprenticeships,, in order that we have a next-generation workforce trained and ready to take on the challenge of bridging work back to the UK. LVS has all the systems in place to be able to swing into action and prove to our customers that the decision to keep their production in the UK is both commercially astute, and environmentally responsible.”

One of LVS’s responses to this is their constant inward investment, resulting in the achievement of ISO 9001:2008 certification; official recognition of their investment in ensuring that customer needs are met, whilst adhering to the statutory and regulatory requirements.

managed through QMS (quality management systems) filtering downwards from senior management, the procedures and processes that are in place mean that LVS operations are efficient, effective and designed to increase customer satisfaction, improve staff motivation and morale, and ultimately, increase profits and productivity (increasing competitiveness in price).
